What are you allowing?

At the end of each year I ask myself – and my clients – this question:
What are you allowing in your life that you’re not taking responsibility for?
This isn’t about blame.
That has to do with shame and pointing fingers and that never gets you anywhere.
This is about self-responsibility.
And the only way you can make changes in your life is to become responsible for yourself and the choices that you make.
Did you listen to other people more than you listened to yourself?
Did you take advice from those people you thought knew more, had more experience or knew better what you should do, rather than asking your Inner Wise Leader?
Did you make decisions based on what you think you should do rather than what you wanted to do or what you thought was possible?
Did you live your life in the safety of a box rather than taking risks, taking chances, being willing to fail?
Have you done this your whole life?
You are where you are because of the choices that you’ve made.
And you made those choices with the thinking you’ve had your whole life.
But it doesn’t have to stay this way.
I am the poster child for allowing my thinking to keep me playing small until I decided to hire my first coach. With her help, I made some major changes.
I know exactly how you feel because I used to be you.
So, let me ask you this:
What would happen if you decided to make some changes?
What could your life look like now?
What could your job look like? Your role as a leader?
Your wants.
Your needs.
Your desires.
What could that look like if you had the self-responsibility necessary to see your actions without judgment?
What if you decided you’re no longer going to allow other people to influence your decisions.
What if you decided:
I’m going to allow myself to play bigger.
I’m going to allow my dreams to be fulfilled.
I’m going to allow and trust my Inner Wise Leader to rule my life.
What’s possible for you?
This is the time to go within, listen and dream big.
This is the time to know that anything is possible – and believe it.
I believe in you.
P.S. As you say good-bye (and good riddance) to 2020, how will you welcome in the new year? Your thinking needs to change before anything else does.
