To look at me, you’d never think…
I recently spoke at a women’s small business expo where I met some pretty amazing women business owners. Since I was one of their speakers, I dressed the part and wore red – one of my favorite colors. I received so many compliments on how I looked (which I totally loved hearing) and noticed how some women made that mean something about themselves.
They were making certain assumptions about me because of how I presented myself. I had a pretty good idea of what they were thinking by how they spoke to me:
“You look so powerful. I couldn’t pull that color off.”
Translation: I’m not powerful – in any color.
“Wow, I love that dress! And your style. I wish I could wear something like that.”
Translation: I don’t trust myself enough to show my true style.
“You’re doing what I wish I could do. It’s so inspiring.”
Translation: I’m not good enough to go after my dreams.
Funny how people make decisions about others based on what they see, right? We all do it.
We compare ourselves to others and make assumptions without knowing much about them.
When you compare your insides to other people’s outsides, it’s always a losing situation.
You think if you can just be more like her or get to that next goal THEN my life will be amazing. You keep waiting for the then to arrive.
That means you’re delaying your own happiness to sometime in the future
What I want you to know is, I’m just like you.

I have struggles, too.
I’ve struggled with body image issues.
I’ve been cheated on and divorced. (My ex brought a date to our wedding. But that’s a story for another time.)
I’ve struggled with alcohol.
I’ve had a double mastectomy.
Each situation brought loads of mind garbage I had to navigate through.
Here’s the deal:
Life isn’t all beer and Skittles®.
You’re going to have positive and negative things happen all throughout your life.
What makes the difference is how you manage what your brain tells you about those experiences.
I’ve spent far too many years believing what my brain told me about what I was capable of doing and how my dreams weren’t possible. After my breast surgery, I vowed I would make big changes in how I looked at life and how I showed up to live it.
The first step – not believing everything I think. I had to really manage my mind.
What about you?
Are you listening to what your brain is telling you about what’s possible for you? Are you stuck thinking the same thoughts year after year? Are you believing that you don’t know enough or aren’t ready or aren’t good enough?
Well, my sister, there is a better way.
I can help.
I’m so grateful I get to work with women just like you who are entrepreneurs or have a leadership role in an organization. I will help you uncover what’s holding you back, skyrocket your confidence and gain clarity on your vision.
My purpose in life is to change how women think and feel about themselves so they can truly see what’s possible for them and step into their own power.
