Spring: A Season of Courage

I look forward to Spring like no other season. Perhaps it’s because I live in Minnesota where I endure a long, long winter that seems to have no end. Once we get to May, Mother Nature wakes up and the color green becomes dominant. It’s also a time when the weather can be pretty unpredictable, and this year is no exception.

Last week I was planting my flower pots, happily giving my herbs a new home on my screen porch and putting geraniums in my window boxes.

This week, I’m digging out warm coats and bringing all those pots into the garage because the temperature at night is near freezing.

It takes courage to be a flower in spring.

It takes courage to keep their roots solid in the ground while they stretch themselves toward the warmth of the sun without a guarantee of a tomorrow.

I always marvel at the courage of springtime while I witness nature’s rebirth.

We need to be courageous, too.

It takes courage to say “No” and not waiver.

It takes courage to say “Yes” and dive in.

It takes courage to let a client go or decline a new one because you know they’re not a good fit for how you do business.

It takes courage to look in the mirror at your naked body and say, “I love you.”

It takes courage to stop procrastinating and just do it!

It takes courage to believe in a vision, without knowing the “how” of getting there.

It takes courage to take the next right steps toward that vision.

It takes courage to be different, own your differences, and let go of the need for approval from others.

It takes courage to ask for what you need – at work, home or in a relationship.

It takes courage to listen to your Inner Wise Self, rather than your Inner Critic.

It takes courage to ask for help and not judge yourself for needing it.

It takes courage to be present in every moment.

It takes courage to be patient and trust the process. (oh my yes, it does!)

It takes courage to live the life you desire – and you can do it with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Being courageous can be pleasant, joy-filled and dare I say – fun! (Have you ever been on a ride at an amusement park or gone rock climbing or stretched outside your comfort zone – and had a blast doing it?)

Yep.

Courage = Fun

New way to look at it.

New way to approach it.

New season – new attitude.

Now go out and strut your courageous self in this world, sister!
