Ready? Reset!

Summer is over and depending on where you live, you’re feeling the shift of seasons. Where I live, the air is cool and crisp, the trees are just starting to turn color and I’m feeling the need to sit by the fire and eat comfort food.

What was your summer like? Were you adventurous? Did you take time off to relax?

Mine was a little different this year. I decided to spend as much time with my family as I could, because my daughter was leaving for college-first kid to leave the house.

That meant I would have to unplug from electronics (as much as possible, while continuing to work), say “no” to things that didn’t align with my summer plans and slow down – a lot, which for me, can be a challenge.

How was I going to do this?!

In addition to the usual stuff of life: family, friends, caring and keeping of our home, caring for elderly parents, etc., I embarked on some pretty big changes in my business.

I am revamping my website, making a shift in my business and who I serve, creating my first online program for women (details coming soon!) just for starters.

Looking at my life and what I was allowing in it, I knew that my outside needed to match my inside.
(I’m not sure I really knew how much I needed it until I did it, and then it became very clear.)

In other words, I hit the RESET button.

Has this ever happened to you?

Sometimes we have to slow down, to speed up.

I’m in a new chapter, perhaps like you, and it’s wonderful. It’s also going to take some getting used to. I’m trying new approaches and discovering new things. I’m trusting myself so much more.

It’s exciting, affirming and is stretching me beyond where I’ve been.

It can also be fatiguing.

I’m learning to listen, really listen to the wisdom of my body and heed its request for rest and nourishment. While I’ve always been a healthy eater (hey, dark chocolate is healthy!), I discovered that I wasn’t eating enough and the extra ten pounds that mysteriously arrived on my midsection since February, are now melting away.

I’ve learned how delicious it is to take a long walk with my hubby by my side and enjoy the rich conversations we have. I also savor the silence when we are both taking in the beauty that surrounds us.

I’ve learned that it’s really OK to putter and not do anything in particular.

Actually, sitting in our screen porch, listening to the sounds of nature is doing something.

I’m replenishing my body and feeding my soul.

I invite you to do the same.

That’s wisdom and worthiness at work.
