Episode 57: A Love Note To You
Sometimes you need a reminder of how powerful you truly are – and I’m just the person to do that. I know there are things happening that are difficult for you and that sometimes you just can’t believe are happening. And this can do a number on how you see yourself.
I see who you are and know one thing for sure:
You are worthy. Not for what you do for others. Not for what you accomplish at work. Not for how much you give of yourself.
You are worthy just because you breathe.
What You’ll Learn:
- A reminder of who you are.
- Why speaking the truth – to yourself – is crucial.
- What your human brain tells you that isn’t true.
- My favorite part of my women’s retreats.

Episode 57: A Love Note To You (Transcript)
I’m just getting back from a long weekend away up in northern Minnesota with my family. I know.
Why did I go away to another cold place? Don’t I already live in a cold place? Yes, I do and it’s because it’s one of my favorite places on the planet.
We rented the same Airbnb we rented last year and it was once again a very fun time. Lots of food, reading, relaxing – and games!
My sides still hurt from all the laughing I did in the last few days.
It’s great to get away, clear my head and enjoy some downtime. I love spending time with my family – my favorite people on the planet and I am so grateful they love spending time as a family. They are so important to me.
This brings me to the topic for today – speaking of important people.
A Reminder Of Who You Are
I want to talk about you and how incredibly important you are in the world. Do you know that? I mean really know it.
I’m an executive coach/leadership coach focusing on confidence and owning your expertise.
I’ve been doing this since I started my coaching career in 2012. But my coaching skills have been with me my entire life.
I was always the one who my friends and colleagues would come to for advice or to share a difficult experience that they needed help with. I’m pretty direct and when I saw things that didn’t serve them well, I would point it out – all with love of course.
I would also let them know what I saw in them that they didn’t see. I have that gift and my passion is to use it with every woman I meet.
Seeing You For Who You Really Are
I see you for who you really are, not who you’ve allowed the world to see.
Not the watered-down version of you that conforms to societal pressures, workplace pressures, family pressures – all the outside forces that tell you to tone it down or don’t be too much or make sure you make everyone else happy so you can be seen as a good mother or wife or daughter or – you fill in the blank.
I want you to know what I see.
I see a woman who is smart, articulate, caring, resilient, and trustworthy.
A beautiful woman – inside and out.
A woman who leads authentically, cares about coworkers and has a passion for helping others be their best.
I see a woman who is a force to be reckoned with and who is afraid of the power she really has and what might be possible if she allowed it to be released.
I see you – who you are now and who you can become – when you get out of your own way.
This is what I help women do
I know my focus has been on leadership and that’s what companies hire me to do for their leaders – create better leaders.
Women hire me individually for coaching too.
But my work goes much deeper than that.
I create and hold a safe space for successful, powerful and incredible women to be themselves and be vulnerable.
They get to take a peek inside themselves and find out why they keep repeating patterns of behavior that don’t serve them.
So this podcast is a reminder for you – my gift to you when you forget how amazing you truly are and you question if you’re really cut out for whatever it is you’re doing because you’ve forgotten what’s possible for you.
And this isn’t just about the work you do or the job you have and all the responsibilities that you carry.
This is about the life you lead
How much of it is great and which parts mystify you?
The habits and patterns of behavior – maybe it’s how you spend money (or not) or continue in a relationship that isn’t giving you what you want or are over drinking and can’t seem to find a way out of that.
Whatever it is, this is what you use to define who you are.
Your human brain tells you that all the other successes are nice, but this one thing – this Achilles heel if you will – is who you really are and that’s nothing to be proud of. And that my friend is what your Derailers™ tell you.
And they lie. All. The. Time.
You Are Remarkable

I wish I could be inside your head to remind you of how remarkable you are. Wouldn’t that be fabulous?
I could remind you all day every day of all the qualities that make you uniquely gifted.
I would remind you that you definitely know who you are and what to do in any situation.
You deserve to be:
- Cherished and loved
- In relationships with people who treat you with kindness and respect and when you aren’t, you need to set your own boundaries. When they are crossed, it’s healthy to hold people accountable and remove them from your life if they continue to treat you with disrespect.
I think that’s why the statistics for divorce in long-term marriages – those relationships that are 20, 30, 40 plus years – are rising.
Did you know the majority of divorce filings in these long-term unions are made by women? That’s right.
They are tired of the invisible workload and are looking for freedom and someone to share their interests with, but not necessarily live with.
They no longer feel they need to stick it out and believe they can find more pleasure and fulfillment in their next stage of life.
I say amen to that.
You don’t have to stay where you don’t want to
This goes for marriages, jobs, friendships, and your neighborhood.
You have control over yourself and your choices – nothing else.
You get to be you – unapologetically – in everything.
When I work with a woman in a leadership role or a woman who runs her own business, it always amazes me that this powerful and successful woman doesn’t take charge of what kind of relationships she has.
She doesn’t set boundaries or expectations about the way she wants to be treated. When she works with me and we set out to make the changes she hasn’t been able to make on her own, I get excited. I know what’s coming.
She gets a taste of what it’s like to own who she is – fully.
She makes her own decisions for her job, her life – her everything.
I have a client right now who is coming into her own and it’s such a beautiful thing to witness. She is more confident, direct in her communication at work and with her family and she knows that she’s very different than what her company is used to – and now embraces that.
She told me in a recent session,
“I know the value I bring and my approach is different than my company is used to – and they need it. I haven’t felt this good in years!”
Music to my ears! This is what growth work with me is like. I show you that being you is just telling the truth. When you do that, say what you want and say no when you really mean it, you change the world around you.
The Power Of Speaking Your Truth

My purpose is to prove the power of one flourishing woman.
I see how women’s lives change when they learn how to show up authentically. If those around you are uncomfortable with that aliveness, that begs the question of why they are in your life.
If one of your Derailers™ is Pleaser, you’re missing out on the fullness that is you because you’re too busy making everyone else happy and being who they want you to be.
Remember who you truly are – capable, loveable, worthy, talented, wise – I could go on and on.
But so much of that is buried inside of you that you stopped believing it because that loud voice in your head lies to you.
We don’t have enough people in our lives who remind us of our greatness.
What to expect in our coaching sessions
Now, it isn’t all beer and Skittles® in a coaching session with me. I’m not here just to be your cheerleader.
I’m here to show you how your human brain works and how it’s been holding you back – with your permission – for a long time.
I help you see what’s possible, not in an airy-fairy kind of way, but in a solid, tangible way so you can visualize the path ahead.
We do this together in a safe space where there is no right or wrong, just “what’s possible” and anchor that in for you.
This is what I do again and again with my clients.
As soon as you realize how much authority and control you have over the life that you’re living and the decisions that you make, it will change everything.
Even that problem that you’re struggling with right now is solvable, you’re not going to solve it from the same perception that you have today.
This is Where My Women’s Retreats Come In

This year I’m taking you to Tuscany, Italy and it’s going to be like nothing you’ve ever experienced.
I know that women just need to step out of their lives to disconnect in order to reconnect to who they are. And you, you have to be able to let go of your normal routine to do that.
This Italian retreat is for you if:
- You are feeling disconnected and you know that you’re not making decisions that are in your best interest.
- You know that you feel challenges, that you’re not sure how to express and work through.
- You need to relax, refresh, renew – and most of all release.
I believe the work I do at these retreats is the ultimate expression of love that I can give to a woman like you.
Women create a lot of stories around leaving family, leaving work, leaving aging parents. I get that. You don’t believe you deserve or are able or should take this time away.
And – one of my favorite parts of the retreat is the arrival day when women finally allow themselves to let go and exhale. By the end of the welcome dinner, I see them begin to open to the magic of what they are about to experience.
Final Thoughts
We have this one life my friend and hopefully a very long and healthy one.
I think we get complacent in our day-to-day living and working and tell ourselves that there’s plenty of time to travel or write that book or take up a new hobby.
As someone who is in her next chapter of life, I am here to tell you, do not buy into that story any longer. It’s numbing you.
We numb ourselves because we don’t want to feel the discomfort. So, we use alcohol or shopping or food or work to avoid the realization that continues to get stronger and stronger: “I’m not fulfilling my own dreams.”
You can change that. You have an inner wise self that hasn’t been listened to for quite a while.
She is your greatest advocate, teacher, and mentor. She knows the truth. And when you take a few minutes to listen to her, or a week sipping wine and enjoying all the pleasures Italy has to offer, I know it will reveal a version of what’s possible for you.
I want you to know how powerful you are, how capable you are, and how much is waiting for you when you allow yourself to speak the truth to yourself.
This is my love note to you
To let you know that I’m right there with you fielding the painful situations and challenges that life can bring.
Even when things feel hard, even when problems present themselves that you didn’t see coming, at the end of the day, it will always be about how you rally and how you tell yourself the truth about what you really want, who you are and respect that.
I’m sending you all my love. And remember: I believe in you.
